Lansdowne Folk Club presents Tret Fure and Christine Havrilla

Legendary female singer/songwriter Tret Fure teams up with modern live-looper Christine Havrilla for an evening of eclectic songs and storytelling. Tret and Christine will each play their own set of music & also join together for a few songs.

Tret Fure began her career at the age of 16, singing in coffeehouses and campuses in the Midwest. At 19, she moved to LA in hopes of obtaining a record deal. Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis, touring with him and penning the single for his album “Mousetrap”. She went on to record her own album “Tret Fure” in 1973, on MCA/UNI Records, with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release, she opened for such bands as Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band.

In the early 80s, Tret moved to the independent side of the industry discovering the blossoming genre known as Women’s Music. She recorded with and produced some of the best of women’s music including mixing the legendary “Meg & Cris at Carnegie Hall” (1983). She worked as a duo with Cris Williamson throughout the 90s, producing, engineering and releasing 3 CDs together. Award-winning Philadelphia native Christine Havrilla brings her “well-built, catchy, smart tunes” (Upstage Magazine) to audiences everywhere, touring nationally solo /live-looping, duo with Colleen Clark, and also with the support of her band, Gypsy Fuzz. Christine brought new music to you in 2024 when she released her new EP called “None of You”.   Steel Notes Magazine raves, “Her Roots/Folk/Americana background coupled with that unique individuality that she possesses allows her to be a presence that steps into many genres and gives her the tools to crossover to different music formats.”

Christine, self-taught from the age of 5, has also shared the stage with an eclectic list of artists like Brandi Carlile, KT Tunstall, Shawn Colvin, Chely Wright, Howard Jones, Jeffrey Gaines, America, Trigger Hippy, Jill Sobule, Janis Ian, Patty Larkin, Karla Bonoff, Christopher Cross, Susan Werner, Vienna Teng, Antigone Rising, Dave Mason, & Davy Knowels. Listed with Takamine Guitar’s Worldwide Artists, Clayton Picks, and Telefunken Microphones, Christine can be found writing, recording, experimenting, writing music for the film “Yachatz”, playing bass for Mama’s Black Sheep, and working on an electronic-acoustic side-project called ALLIR MUSIC, while still bringing her “Neofunkadelicfolkpoptwangrock” to audiences everywhere.  Check her out at www.christinehavrilla.com.

Held at the Twentieth Century Club, 84 S. Lansdowne Avenue, Lansdowne, PA, doors open at 7 p.m. and show begins at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $20 when purchased in advance online or with an advanced phone reservation and $25 without an advance reservation.

Parking in front of the 20th Century Club is no longer available. Parking is available on the side streets near the Club or at the Septa train station lot two blocks away.  Street parking is available on Lansdowne Court (adjacent to the 20th Century Club) or on Dudley Ave, (across Lansdowne Ave. from the 20th Century Club).

There is one ADA designated handicap parking spot behind the building, but additional handicapped parking can be made by emailing Lfolkclub@gmail.com in advance of the concert.
