Haversham Manor is ALIVE! at Colonial

By Betty Lou Roselle

I have seen many different sets in my years of reviewing theatre, but this one created by the talented crew of The Play That Goes Wrong is a must see! Ted Beaumont, John Clark, Ron Hill, Steve Lythgoe, Chuck McCallum, Dave McCallum, Jim Miccolis, Jeff Muller, Dave Sadler, Dennis Spence and Ruth Brittin need to take a bow. You will agree when you see the production.

This fun farce by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields is a wonderful romp that moves at breakneck speed thanks to the great direction of Sam Barrett. My head was spinning from watching the actors dealing with all the things that go wrong.

Josh Hawkins tries unsuccessfully to keep the play on track while assuming the role of Inspector Carter (nicely done). Dan Mahoney as Perkins the Butler is hysterical (I especially liked his unique talent with words).

Vince Fox does a great job as Trevor Watson trying to keep the cast going no matter what. JP Timlin, a talented veteran actor at Colonial Playhouse puts in another solid performance as Robert Grove. Kirk Reichart does nicely as Jonathan who is the murder victim that refuses to die.

Luis Aguilar as Max is spot on as the cad who is having an affair with his brother’s fiancé Sandra and in his dual role as the gardener (get that man a real dog!)

Kate Shaw as Annie and Tiffany Moskow as Sandra are both terrific as the competing divas.

Sam Barrett does a terrific job of directing this large cast and keeping them and any moving parts from bumping into each other. Annie Lenix is exceptional as the stage manager as well as sound/light manager.

Make sure you see this play. There are only six performances left on March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22.
