Milagros Cuff: (Two-day workshop, Saturday & Sunday, April 11 & 12) 10AM-4PM. Minimum 7, maximum 10. In Spanish, the word Milagro means miracle or surprise. They are small images, usually made of metal, that are traditionally used for religious, healing purposes in mainly Spanish speaking countries. Using these images, students will design and fabricate their own Milagro cuff bracelets with sheet brass, Silver wire, and Silver scrap. This project is a great way to enhance skills in sawing, forming, soldering, texturing, and finishing techniques. This course is suitable for students with a solid knowledge of soldering. By the end of the class, students will complete a series of Milagros and gain a deeper understanding of how metalsmithing can be used to tell stories and honor tradition through handmade objects.
