If you are interested in seeing what it would look like if 2001 Space Odyssey and William Shakespeare attended a modern dance performance, then “Caesar” at Philadelphia Theatre Company is your ticket. The play will visually stun you with a gorgeous set, stirring sound, videography and dramatic lighting. The barebones 5-member cast did their best tackling Shakespeare’s extraordinary text and some of his most quotable lines. PTC’s production features Jude Sandy as Caesar and Octavius, Matteo Scammell as Brutus, J Hernandez as Cassius, Jaime Maseda as Marc Antony and Casca, J.T. Rodney as Cinna the Poet, and Morgan Green as Portia.

Have an open mind; this is a modern interpretation adapted by PTC Co-Artistic Director Tyler Dobrowsky of Shakespeare’s classic play and some of Morgan Green’s directorial choices may not be in alignment with your expectations and ultimately in this production, did not serve the play. Remember “The play is the thing…”
