What to bring:  A drum if you have one…Susan will have plenty of drums to share (see pic above).  Some people like to bring a small object (stone, jewelry, etc) to infuse with energy from the circle.  You may want to bring some water, or some cash to purchase some at Parastudy.

Cost:  Members of Parastudy:  $15  For Non-Members:  $20

Drum Circle Facilitator:  Susan Hart, LMT, RM, CMCP has been drumming since 2001 after attending her first circle, and was hooked instantly by the joyous energy.  A few months later she was guided to play a frame drum over a massage client during their bodywork session; learning the resonance of the drum could instantly calm anxiety, ground energy, clear density and more!  Since then Susan has accumulated a variety different types of drums and other instruments.  Looking for drum circles and not finding any locally, Susan trained with Jim Donovan (of Rusted Root fame) so she could lead her own circles and have the opportunity to play and share the joy of drumming with others.

Take a StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park

Bring your walking shoes, your reading glasses, and enjoy StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park this summer!

Delaware County Libraries, in collaboration with Delaware County Council, the Parks & Recreation Department, and volunteers from Williamson College of the Trades, have successfully implemented the inaugural StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park, 1671 N. Providence Rd, Media, Pa.

Families can now take a StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park.

Families can now take a StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park.

The StoryWalk is located in the western portion of the park in the field behind the amphitheater stage. StoryWalk is a wonderful way for adults and their young children or grandchildren to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise as they walk roughly 1,300 ft to each of the 19 reading stations while enjoying the beauty of Rose Tree Park. The activity combines exercise and reading to further enhance health and literacy in children and adults. StoryWalk is a free activity for all Delaware County residents that is accessible during normal park hours.

The first installment of StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park features the Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child 2008 selection “Up, Down, and Around” by author Katherine Ayres, and illustrator Nadine Bernard Westcott. The short story introduces children to gardening and the relationship between plants and animals. With its rhythmic presentation and vivid illustrations, “Up, Down, and Around” is sure to be a big hit with children and adults alike.

Delaware County Libraries is an agency of county government that provides support services for 26 independent member libraries. For information about the wide range of library services available to all county residents, visit: www.delcolibraries.org.
