Based on the 1960 film The Apartrment, the musical “Promises, Promises” lives up to its name with music by Burt Bacharach, lyrics by Hal David, and book by Neil Simon. A junior executive hopes to advance his career by making his apartment available for his bosses’ trysts, while pursuing his own love interest. The show features well-known pop hits like the title song, as well as “I Say a Little Prayer for You,” and “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again.”
Performances are Jan. 26, 27, Feb. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8 PM, and a matinee on Jan. 28 at 2 PM, at the Swarthmore United Methodist Church, 129 Park Ave, Swarthmore, PA 19081. “Promises, Promises” first opened on Broadway in 1968, with the late Jerry Orbach in the lead, who won a Tony for his performance. The cast album won the Grammy as well.
