Forge Theatre opens 2018 with ‘The 1940’s Radio Hour’

Forge Theatre in Phoenixville is proud to present a Greg Morton directed holiday musical – The 1940’s Radio HourThe 1940’s Radio Hour is a play with music by Walton Jones, special arrangement by Samuel French.

Starting January 5, 2018 the show will run for three weekends to Jan. 21 – on Friday and Saturday evenings, curtain will go up at 8 pm, Sundays at 2 pm. Prepare for a rousing two hours of back’n’forth, Abbott & Costello-like comedic shenanigans in a radio station mixed with everyone’s favorite songs of the holidays in the 1940s. The play portrays the final holiday broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade on the New York radio station WOV in December 1942 including old-time sound effects. The variety of characters, including the cantankerous stage manager and the bumbling drunk, will tug at your heartstrings as they prepare for their Christmas broadcast to the soldiers overseas during WWII.
