The star of the Academy Award-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (introduced by Bette Midler), Darlene Love is an adored American musical icon.
For 28 years Love made holiday guest appearances on the David Letterman show singing “Baby Please Come Home,” and has appeared as a special guest throughout the last two decades during Bruce Springsteen tours.
Since the early ‘60s as part of Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” hit factory, and as the lead singer on “He’s a Rebel,” Darlene Love has done it all, from major motion pictures like the highly successful Lethal Weapon series to Broadway hits like Hairspray and Grease!
In the early years, Love’s background vocals behind The Righteous Brothers, Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sir Tom Jones, Cher and more, set the stage for her emergence as a star in her own right.
Backed by a live orchestra of some of the industry’s most talented musicians, Darlene’s set list will include songs such as a cover of Steven Van Zandt’s Among the Believers, He’s Sure the Boy I Love, He’s a Rebel (The Crystals Song), A Change is Going to Come (Sam Cooke cover), Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell cover), Today I Met the Boy I’m Going to Marry, Da Doo Ron, Ron, and more.
Darlene Love’s most recent album, Introducing Darlene Love, was produced by Love’s longtime friend and advocate Steven Van Zandt.
Darlene Love will perform a Valentine’s Day Concert at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on February 15 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $38 – $46 and may be purchased online at www.udpac.orgor by calling the Box Office at 610.622.1189.
