The Irish Heritage Theatre Fall 2017 (Nov. 2- 18) production of “By the Bog of Cats” by Marina Carr continues a season dedicated to the women of Ireland. “By the Bog of Cats” is harrowing, gritty and supernatural. The play centers around Hester Swane, an Irish Traveler who is on the road to destruction as she faces complete abandonment. With a cast of unforgettable characters hell bent on taking everything that is dear to her, this Irish tale loosely based on the story of Medea shows a mind unhinged, and a woman driven to ultimate revenge in a world where she just doesn’t “belong”.
This production features Ethan Lipkin, Kirsten Quinn, Mary Pat Walsh, Mark Knight, Jim Guckin and John Cannon. Joining the cast are newcomers Keri Doheny, Arlen Hancock, Jenna Kuerzi, Susan Giddings, and Tina Brock. Peggy Mecham directs, and we have some of the top designers in the area working on the show: Zach McKenna, Lee Lewis, and Rachel Krupnick.
