Richard Dowling makes his Tri-State Jazz Society debut Aug. 20

Classically-trained pianist and musicologist Richard Dowling makes his Tri-State Jazz Society debut at Community Arts Center, 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA, on Sunday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m. On April 1, 2017, the exact date of the 100th anniversary of Scott Joplin’s death, Richard Dowling became the first pianist in history to publicly perform the complete cycle of Joplin’s piano works in a pair of sold-out recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In commemoration of the centennial of Joplin’s death and the sesquicentennial of his birth, Dowling will nationally perform over 60 all-Joplin recitals featuring rags, waltzes and marches throughout 2017 and 2018.

Half-price admission of $10, payable at the door, is available for first-time attendees and members; general admission is $20; full-time students with IDs and children are free. There are no advance sales or reservations. The Arts Center is less than a mile from the Media-Swarthmore exit of I-476 (the “Blue Route”) and has free parking.
