Families can now take a StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park.

The StoryWalk is located in the western portion of the park in the field behind the amphitheater stage. StoryWalk is a wonderful way for adults and their young children or grandchildren to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise as they walk roughly 1,300 ft to each of the 19 reading stations while enjoying the beauty of Rose Tree Park. The activity combines exercise and reading to further enhance health and literacy in children and adults. StoryWalk is a free activity for all Delaware County residents that is accessible during normal park hours.

The first installment of StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park features the Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child 2008 selection “Up, Down, and Around” by author Katherine Ayres, and illustrator Nadine Bernard Westcott. The short story introduces children to gardening and the relationship between plants and animals. With its rhythmic presentation and vivid illustrations, “Up, Down, and Around” is sure to be a big hit with children and adults alike.

Delaware County Libraries is an agency of county government that provides support services for 26 independent member libraries. For information about the wide range of library services available to all county residents, visit: www.delcolibraries.org.
